Biographies
Marie-Noëlle de Callataÿ, soprano
The Belgian soprano, Marie-Nöelle de Callataÿ, began her singing studies at the age of 15 with Greta De Reyghere.
After 3 years, she entered the Conservatoire de Musique de Bruxelles in Jules Bastin's class, where she obtained the first prize in concert singing and lyric art and the diploma superior of opera singing with the greatest distinction.
She obtained a grant of the Fondation Belge de la Vocation, which allowed her to study in London with Vera Rozsa.
Marie-Nöelle de Callataÿ appeared in the operas Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (Dido and Belinda), Don Giovanni (Zerlina) and Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart (Suzanna).
She has given many recitals of Lieder and chamber music and has taken part in oratorios in Belgium and abroad (Netherlands, Italy, UK).
In December 1989 she toured in the USSR with Sylvia Traey. She recorded a CD of Peter Philips with the Ensemble Currende.
Marie-Nöelle de Callataÿ is prize-winner finalist of the International Competitions of Singing of 's Hertogenbosch and of the Queen Elizabeth Competition.
Marcel Vanaud, baritone
After studying in Brussels Conservatoire and in Liége, Marcel Vanaud spent seven years with the Opéra de Wallonie, before beginning his international career at La Monnaie in Brussels in the three Mozart/Da Ponte operas.
A regular guest at opera houses all over Europe and in North and South America, his repertoire includes Verdi's Nabucco, Ezio (Attila), Francesco (Masnadieri), Stanker (Stiffelio), Miller, Luna, Germont, Boccanegra, Renato, Carlo (Forza del Destino), Rodrigue, Iago and Ford as well as other Italian baritone parts, the main French baritone Martin roles, and Wagner's Dutchman.
He made his La Scala debut in the premiere of Giacomo Manzoni's Dr. Faustus; he has also appeared in Hindemith's Cardillac, Gottfried von Einem's Danton's Tod and Igor Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex.
He sang Vitellius in EMI's recording of Massenet's Hérodiade under Michel Plasson; Marcel Vanaud also recorded a CD recital of Verdi baritone arias.
Tiemin Wang, tenor
Tenor Tiemin Wang studied at the Beijing Conservatory and the Brussels Conservatory under the guidance of Jules Bastin. He has performed as a soloist at the China Philharmonic and the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie.
Tiemin was a laureate of the International Competition of Verviers and the International Singing Competition and Spiga d'Oro in Sicily. He has portrayed the roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Don José in Carmen, Manrico in Il Trovatore, Masaniello in La Muette de Portici, Duca in Rigoletto, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Symon in Der Bettelstudent, and René in Der Graf von Luxemburg.
He has also undertaken various roles in Il Tabarro, Un Ballo in Maschera, From the House of the Dead, Lady Macbeth, Il Prigioniero, Otello, La Khovanchtchina, Viaggio a Reims.
Additionally, he has performed in recitals and oratorios: Gounod's Messe solennelle, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Mozart's and Verdi's Requiem...

The Welcome meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 1st, at 9:30 am,
Address: Académie de Musique, 49, rue du Château, 1420 Braine-L'Alleud.
The planning of the lessons and the practical aspects will be communicated on that occasion, not before.
The lessons start immediately after.
Scores for the pianists must be sent as pdf at the application AND assembled scores for the pianists must be also sent by regular mail.
The course will include individual lessons and group classes. The final concert will be organized on Sunday May 5th at 4:00 pm.
The lessons and concert will take place at the Académie de Musique de Braine l'Alleud, rue du Château 49, 1420 Braine l'Alleud, at walking distance from the train station.
For those who want to add some extra days to their stay, we strongly recommend a visit of the following places:

The Fondation Bell'Arte is based in the very centre of Braine- L'Alleud, at around 25 km South to Brussels, half the way between Brussels and Charleroi. The Académie de Musique de Braine-L'Alleud is at a 10 minutes walk from the foundation or from the railway station.

Brussels International Airport (based in Zaventem),
or Brussels South (based in Charleroi)
are both convenient to arrive in Braine-L'Alleud, as easy train connections exist.

Braine l'Alleud's station is on the railway connecting Brussels to Charleroi.

For a limited number of persons: possibility to stay at the Château du Cheneau in a shared room (3-4 persons), from May 1st, evening till Sunday 5th, noon.

This housing doesn't include any meal.
Application order will be followed for the attribution of the rooms and is only available for people from abroad.
Payment must be made together with the application, after confirmation of the availability.
Several Airbnb's are present at Braine l'Alleud. Worthy to check too.

For those who wish to stay in Brussels (youth hostel - regular hotel)- easy transportation by train - or in Waterloo (car needed), advice can be given by the organization.
